WIW 04.14 [Ensemble: Easy "Spring" Tweed]

Hi everyone! Love Angie's ensemble post today, don't have a way to don a spring version hence "spring" aaaand more tomboyish so nixing the "pretty" as well ;) Technically the right components but definitely a winter outfit; the only springy thing here is the exposed ankles! Going for lots of texture: heavy navy-with-gold-sparklies tweed moto over semi-chunky marled turtleneck (both roomy, even though they don't really photograph it) with white BF jeans and shiny black loafers. No time to spend on hair this morning so also popped on a fuzzy leo beret. Finished with some light pink gloss. Easy peasy as usual with these fabulous formulas, thanks Angie ^^

(Nothing new to report on the wardrobe front, just chugging along with what I've got.)

This is a beautiful rendition of the ensemble, Aida. I love that jacket, and it's gorgeous on you! What a great example of a nod to spring while keeping the outfit wearable in not-quite-spring weather!

Oh, and your beret! How cool is that. I'm coveting it.

Good to see you, Aida. Your outfits always make me happy.

This is great! I don't do much spring or pretty either, myself, so it's nice to see your unique take on the look.

I like that sweater. I usually see that combo (marled, turtleneck) in big oversized sweaters, but I like the sleeker fit of yours better, somehow. It captures the essence of "chunky turtleneck sweater" but in a flattering way that leaves room for other layers. I should keep that in mind when shopping.

    Very cute!
I just ordered a black tweed jacket so am inspired to try something similar once it arrives.

  • Beth Ann replied 7 years ago

I'm late to the tweedy party!

I appreciate the way the white brightens things up a bit, and the texture is terrific.  You are a Proportion Queen, Aida!

It's good to see you again!  I like the white jeans and the marled sweater.  The hat looks cute on you (I think I look terrible in hats so I enjoy seeing them on others).

  • anchie replied 7 years ago

Fab outfit. White jeans make it more spring like.

Ladies!! Thanks so much for all the lovely comments <3 My current fall/winter wardrobe is a little darker and more neutral than I'd like so I have been really working to incorporate lots of both texture and print which has helped a lot.

Bonnie, didn't even realize I'd gone short-jacket-over-longer-top...  Seems to be a signature of mine ;)

Greyscale, YES definitely look for streamlined chunky if you're after a layering piece; makes things so much easier! This particular sweater has the larger knitting pattern, but uses a thinner yarn. I also find that if you want the sleeker fit versus the very oversized, which seems to come with this kind of turtleneck as you said, I've had more success sizing up on a sweater meant to be fluid/tailored over trying to find one that's intended to be oversized that actually comes across as streamlined.

Bijou, hah thanks for the curl love ^^ No worries, it's still plenty curly under the hat.
