WIW 04.12 (Vertigo)

Movie poster: Vertigo (group thread).

Another simple poster, another simple outfit. The BOLD colors and cutout-like effect of the poster are really striking, so I wanted to work around those ideas. I thought about doing a crazy vertigo-inducing pattern mix (b/w striped blouse + red plaid pants + houndstooth flats), but felt that the simplicity of the poster is its strength.

  • Ivory mesh sleeve sweater, white belt - white spiral, mesh reminiscent of spiral overlap
  • Red jeans - red background
  • Black studded flats - small black element
  • Woven silver earrings - round shape, more spiral overlap mesh
  • Black/yellow lined clutch - a little chaos!

For the final manicure of the week I chose a more loose interpretation, using the poster's colors in blocks along with lines further reminiscent of the spirals. I'm quite happy that I can keep these on for a few days for a change ;) And to keep with the bold red coloring I wore bright red lipstick. This outfit is a bit more weekend than workday for me, but it's still a good date night option since hubby prefers minimal outfits and flats. Also feels very summery, especially for the very gray day we're having. Great perk up!

I personally love it they are doing this matchy matchy lips and nails or one color from head to toe...i love how it contrast in your skin tone and the cream sweater!

Aida, I've so enjoyed your posts, outfits and nails this week. I need to pin this outfit for inspiration. A white belt for jeans is on the wish list. You look wonderful as do your nails.

As written on the group thread:

I love when you pick up on the ... cutout-like effect... yum! You look so fun and fab I can hardy stand it. Your attention to details blows my mind - I'll have hard time believing the background for the nailpolish shot is not there on purpose too.

    Simply fabulous, Aida!

Thanks for the comments, ladies! I actually struggled a bit with this one initially but am very happy with how it came together.

Siniestra, I don't often go for matchy-matchy but I do really love it with red/white outfits. Somehow it makes an already crisp combo even more crisp!

Joy, I recall seeing several white belt options at Macy's a month ago (which is where and when I got this one). Perhaps they still have some?

Ornella, thank you so much! Of course, you are right about the nail background :) For the outfit photo it's my sweater sleeves, to show the mesh textures of the sweater along with my earrings and the nails. Had a lot of detail to sneak into one photo! The other one is my brick patio, which makes a nice neutral yet interestingly textured background when I use a small f-stop.

Day Vies and Sarah, thank you ^^

It is very simple and very striking, Aida. Love you in red and white!
I was getting  a kick out of your nail designs this week - what fun! I never have a patience for this :-(

You look great in the mesh sleeved sweater. We were sweater twins today. (I didn't wear mine for my Vertigo outfit but changed into it later on.) And those red jeans are just fantastic on you! I am with Sveta on the nail designs, though. Yours have been amazing all week, but I will have to watch them from afar and admire.

Thanks Sveta and Suz! I also really appreciate the nail compliments, they were fun (though a good bit of extra effort) to do.

What Joy said :) You are so pretty in this - and the best thing is, I have the means to recreate this outfit in my closet already. Might try that tomorrow, in fact.

I love the white belt, white sweater combination, but am just in shock about your nails - you did them every night? Such discipline!

Omigosh, even your nails pick up the design. Incredible!

Shevia, yep I did do new nails each night. Fun, but took more time than expected!
