WIW 04.10 (Breakfast at Tiffany's)

Movie poster: Breakfast at Tiffany's (group thread).

Holly Golightly herself is, of course, the image that comes to mind when one thinks of Breakfast at Tiffany's. For the poster art, though, I was really struck by the Mondrian-esque vibe and how the expanse of white really lets Holly stand out. I had trouble incorporating this type of minimal aesthetic into an outfit that I felt covered enough elements, so I instead went the opposite direction!

  • Kitty shirt - shoulder kitty, of course!
  • Black blazer - a strong black vertical element (Holly herself)
  • White jeans - expansive white background
  • Black pointy kitten heels, pearl stud earrings - little nods to Holly's attire
  • Aqua/blue clutch - top/right colorblocking

Today's nails represent, quite literally, the left/bottom colorblocking, with freehanded red/orange blocks on a white base (my favorite design of the week!). And as a nod to Ms. Golightly, I chose to go more Hollywood Glam with double-thickness mascara and bright red lipstick. I did find it amusing that, considering the movie, today's outfit is less glam than the previous two ;)

Aida, I love it so much I cannot stand it! Something about this outfit really resonates with me.
Now my mind is busily thinks how I can recreate it with a navy cat shirt...

This is both a clever interpretation of the poster and a stylish outfit. The nails are the piece de resistance for me.

This is the braniac interpretation - so clever!  And thank you for the nails.  They are a masterpiece.

Great outfit, need to be sure you repeat this at other times.

Thanks ladies! Glad this one went over well. I must say I wasn't too thrilled with the shoes which kind of broke the whole thing for me, though in looking back at the photos it certainly looks OK; black flats would've felt a lot better to me though.

    Thank you Jayne and Pil!

What a fab interpretation!  I will copy this with my checked light blue shirt, sans those amazing nails.  Really like the polish!

Gosh, I love it, especially with the clutch. I can't believe your stamina with the nails... they look terrific.

    Thanks Tanya and Sarah!

Tanya, looking forward to seeing that. Light blue checks would look fab with the white and black!

Sarah, I can't either actually ;) I got in my head that I wanted to change them daily, but it was LOT more work than I expected. Still fun to have done, but I'm more than happy to go back to a more normal nail schedule of whenever-I-feel-like-it.
