Here are a week of work outfits from a couple weeks ago! Starting to work in my new spring purchases, always feels nice and wardrobe rejuvenating. Also starting to use some different lip colors, pink (#1), peach (#3/5), and bright orange (#2/4).

  1. Monday, worn to the bank and then work. New top that's woven in front and knit in back (mullet shirt?), new loafers, and my new (and first) big statement necklace!
  2. Tuesday, worn to work then out to Type Tuesday (monthly gathering of locals interested in type). Following Angie's spring column of denim formula, though I wore nude/metallic sandals. I usually try to dress a bit more businessy on Type Tuesdays, but completely forgot about it so I was happy to at least be wearing a structured top half.
  3. Wednesday, worn to work. A short-over-long AND dress-over-jeans outfit! I'm loving short-over-long silhouettes this season, though I don't have many items that I can use for it. This feels a little more autumn than spring to me, even with the spring boots/accessories.
  4. Thursday, worn to work. I actually came up with Friday's outfit for this day but decided it would be better suited to the ball game. Wanted to try a spring look that's light but uses black accents (not something I do often). It worked better than I expected, I'll definitely be sporting it again.
  5. Friday, worn to work then out to a baseball game (Mariners home opener). New jeans, and I couldn't resist pairing them with orange (scarf) and coral (belt) ^^ Plus I just love how bright green looks with white/cream for spring!

Outfit #2 with that orange jacket is fantastic Aida! Well, they're all fantastic outfits really! I love seeing how you layer - it's never ALGO but effortless somehow.

You know I love 2-3! I am studying your application of spring accessories; 3 does feel springy to me, with the soft colors. Of course, here I am wearing black and ink blue today.

May I ask where you found your orange blazer? Mine is pilling way before its time...

  • Kari replied 12 years ago

Could that orange jacket be any more cheerful? I love that outfit - all of them, actually.

  • Jilly replied 12 years ago

Really cool outfits, Aida! Especially love the orange blazer in #2. Also love the vibe of short over long over jeans in #3 with a Really cool necklace. Something about that necklace really does it for me.

Love the orange jacket and especially with chambray. I also really like #1 and #4. The first is simple but great.

I love your new loafers (I remember seeing them with the plaid jeans too). You look fantastic in orange and blue and also the orange scarf and new jeans in the last one. Really you outfits never miss, and you try so many things. Wonderful!

You are a vision of spring loveliness! LOVE #2 and #4, both of these have something Boho going on and I like this look on you.

  • nicoleb replied 12 years ago

Awesome! I really love the shade of your new jeans! So pretty!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks for the lovely comments ladies!

Kari, Dianthus, and Nicole, thank you!

Shannon, I do feel like I'm pretty minimalist in my dressing preferences (though hubby would disagree). I got my layering chops by trying to make plain, solid tops look interesting for a loooong time before finally moving on to more interesting tops ;)

Rae, well this knit orange blazer is also from F21 (unfortunately no longer available), so when I read that yours was pilling a few days ago I got a bit worried about the future of mine! I wonder if H&M has any orange blazers right now? I really like the quality of their blazers for the price.

Jilly, I'm totally on Team You Can't Have Too Many Cool Necklaces :D

Shevia, I love to experiment with my outfits, happy to hear you think I'm way down on the "miss" scale ^^

Denise, my boho side definitely comes out more in spring/summer!

I am seriously in love with outfit 2. Of course orange blazer has so much to do with it but I also love your jeans.
Super statement necklace in outfit 1!

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

    Oufits #2, #3 and #4 are KILLER 10's! Gorgeous!

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

2 is knocking my socks off! And I love the simplicity of 1, and the pattern mixing of 4 (will copy soon), and the spring-y vibe of 5, and heck, guess I just really love them all!

  • AJ replied 12 years ago

    1) Luv the neutrals with the colorful necklace! How is it that this is your FIRST statement necklace? Must get more! Does the knit back make the top comfy or does it have an odd pulling sensation?

    2) LUV that orange blazer!! So sad to read that it's no longer available. : (

    3) Ooohhh, I like how you styled the dress! That necklace is FAB! I'm envious that it's still cool enough for you to wear blazers and booties!

    4) I like the olive and blue with the black accents! You've inspired me to come up with something similar. Thanks!

    5) Yay for new colored skinnies! The colors mix is FAB and I like the stripe and plaid pattern mixing as well.

A great week, Aida! Thanks for sharing!

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

Aida I adore the simplicity of #1! And that necklace is just beautiful.
Really all these outfits are fab. The orange is gorgeous on you and your pattern mixing inspiring.

  • Jjsloane replied 12 years ago

You kept it springy and interesting all week. My favorites are 2 (love orange anytime) and 4 - love the gingham and polkadots. Seems odd, but it works.

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

I especially love #2. That orange blazer is so much fun and looks so striking against the faded blue.

  • mscooks replied 12 years ago

Do I spot an effortlessly pulled off semi-tuck in pic 5? ;-) Go Aida! My fave outfit has got to be pic 2 - the blazer, the jeans, love, love, LOVE!

  • krishnidoux replied 12 years ago

Aida, I love all of these! What brand are your white boots in pic 3 (Wedn.) and are they comfortable?

Monday, demure with a punch. This necklace gets the spotlight and the rest deserve an Oscar as supporting role.

Tuesday: Totally Aida in her most classic self, right up to the sunglasses! This outfit is simply cool.

Wednesday (my personal favourite): I agree you wear the High-low contrast very well. Necklace is also a very sexy touch. And the boots, the boots! I'm jealous.

Thursday: Pattern mixing! Yay! Here you are teaching me how beautiful and cool kitty heels can look with skinnies. So fresh, so spring-like.

Friday: Colour! Turquoise and orange go so well together. Very on trend. And the sweater's pattern make it personal, bring the eye up, prevent the pants from stealing all the attention. Very clever!

What a stunning set of outfits! I especially love #2 and #4.

  • Kirti replied 12 years ago

Wow! These are all such great outfits for spring :-)

  • kellygirl replied 12 years ago

Fab outfits, Aida! You look amazing in your spring looks. Of course, #2 is my fave by a smidge--only because I love the look of the orange blazer (hi, twin!) over the column of denim. I’m going to be copying that one before it gets too hot! I really love how you use light and colored jeans to make your outfits spring-y. It’s such a refreshing look. I think that’s the difference between our spring and yours--we go straight from winter into shorts. I’m a little envious because the skinnies look more polished than walking shorts! The long over skinny works so well over the long line of the skinnies--I’ve been studying that one and see why my versions with shorts don’t work as well. LOVE your new green jeans and how your paired them with nautical and coral. You just look SO fab all week long. Yay you! Awesome statement necklace too. I love the simplicity of 1 too! WOW!

btw, lol about your DH's "brick" comment. Thanks for reminding me about pulling the sleeves in on the top. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why it looked so bad this year. You helped me remember that last year I scrunched the sleeves in to make it more sleeveless and less cap. Gah, getting old sucks--I forget everything.

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

Awesomeness! I absolutely love 2 and 5 (I am soo into the brights this spring, and you wear them so well!) but they are all fab. I'm so glad you are posting again.

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

Perfect looks. I especially adore how well the plaid and polka dots play together in #4.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

I love all these looks especially: that statement necklace in #1, the jacket in #2, The bag and booties in #3, the scarf in #4, and those pants in #5. You have such a wonderful way of mixing the colors and patterns.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Wow ladies! Thank you ALL for the fabulous comments and feedback, I really appreciate it :D Lots of orange blazer+denim love, and I'm so glad to hear that because I wasn't too sure about it when I wore it!

Sarah, oooh I bet your purple plaid gingham would be awesome to mix with polka dots! Are you still wearing it? Seems like a great spring top!

AJ, thanks for the detailed comment! About the necklace in #1 being my first statement necklace, I KNOW RIGHT? I have lots of fun pendants and long necklaces, but nothing that packs a PUNCH like this one does. I'm officially smitten with them now! The top in #1 is super duper comfortable, the knit doesn't seem to make it pull but the blouse is a bit loose all over which probably helps.

Krish, thank you also for such a great detailed comment! The ivory booties are very comfortable, all day walking shoes for me and I'd definitely recommend them. By Ciao Bella, style "Glorious" and are still for sale by Sears, though I purchased mine maybe 2 years ago. Skinnies+heels are a signature look for me, I'm really into my kitten heels right now so I'm glad to hear you think they look fresh!

Kelly, another great detailed comment :D I think the orange+denim column will work with denim walk shorts, if it's too hot for long jeans already for you. I wonder if long-over-short with walk shorts would work with high-low tops? If the walk shorts are really tapered I would think that they'd work well with high-low looks if you could keep the footwear dark to draw they eye down.
