WIW 04.07-11 [all work + a ballgame]

Clearly I am feeling the florals (not just this week but for the season, really). 3 of 5 floral days for this work week, and I used to not be that big on them. I still love my geometrics, but I think there has been an influx in the type of floral I'm drawn to the last two years. I'm going to attribute it to a sudden and surprise warm week after a lot of cool and rain ;)

#1 Monday - I decided to celebrate the warmest day of the week by letting out a little bare leg (woo!). With the short-over-long and high contrast colorway, this outfit has a whole bunch of horizontal lines but since I kept a few of them low contrast it's not too cutting. A favorite spring color combo, blue+white+black with a touch of bright orange (lipstick), along with swapping out the gold jewelry I've been favoring the past few seasons for some well-loved older silver pieces.

#2/3 Tuesday - This day I needed an outfit for work that could take me to a baseball game afterwards, so I went a bit more casual. Basic requirements: A long sleeve tee so I could easily pop my jersey over the top, good walking shoes, and a synthetic bag that doesn't easily get dirty. Dressed that up with trousers and a statement necklace, along with an asymmetrical semi-tuck for some added visual interest with the tee. EDIT: Also loosely based on this fab ensemble MaryK recently wore to a ballgame!

#4 Wednesday - Inspired by this outfit. My husband and I carpooled to work this day, which meant I had to get up a few hours earlier than normal. I was rushing quite a bit (sooo not a morning person), including on the photo front, though hubby was sweet and helped me take them quickly. This was also Una's birthday and this sheer blouse, which I purchased while with her and other fabbers in LA two years back, always makes me think of her so I was happy to have happened to wear it.

(Thursday posted earlier.)

#5 Friday - I was thinking about wearing the bomber+pencil formula Angie posted that morning, but decided instead to give this thick ponte top another wear since I'll have to put it away soon. This is a decidedly boxy look, what with the actually-boxed-shaped top and non-tapered pencil skirt, and felt a bit different than most of my volume-on-volume looks because both materials are somewhat stiff. My sis wasn't into the white pumps with this outfit, perhaps black would have been better.

#6 - Nails for the week, nice and simple. I had the hardest time getting these to photograph accurately. In low light it turns a purple-pinky nude while in the light it sparkles green-gold, and is sprinkled throughout with blush glitters. Really like the dual nature of this!

Aida, it's so nice to have you posting again!  These are all super fab!  I think my fave is the boxy-rrific ensemble in #5.  I ain't mad at the white shoes but black would have been fun, too!

Ooh! I love that pencil skirt outfit. I can't get past it to pay proper attention to the others! The textural mix is just so lovely. Both ladylike and relaxed. Stunning.

Gorgeous outfits - my favorite is #4, I love the white on white with that pretty floral blouse. I also really like #3 but I'm confused - "Mariners" - who? Shouldn't it say "Phillies?" Hehe.

  • amiable replied 6 years ago

These are all so completely gorgeous!  I just can't get enough of your outfits and posts.

It's a treat to see how different your outfits look, such a variety of silhouettes! My favorite of this group is 2, pretty and polished, I think I could so something similar for work. I've been doing asymmetric tucking and loving it. You look fab.

Great outfits!  I especially like #5.  I think the white pumps look fine, but black would bookend you hair.

  • annagybe replied 6 years ago

I think I spy my pants. Really like #5.

  • AJ replied 6 years ago

Florals love you too! All these looks are FAB, but #4 is Super FAB!!

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

    Thanks ladies!

Karie, well yours should say "Phillies" ;)

Anna, yep you spy right. I love these pants, they're perfect for warm days!

Another great week Aida, 2 and 5 are my pers faves. I simply love the boxy top in nr. 5 with the colorfull skirt AND the white shoes! K2K!:-)

Oh my Aida - #4 and #5 just blow me away with their fabulousness! The bright white just lights up everything floral...of course, I'm a floral loving gal myself. The layering of the ponte top with the pencil skirt is brilliant.

My favorite is #2, but it's followed closely by all the others. You always look so beautifully put together!

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

You look sensational every day, Aida. I vote killer all week. xo

  • Windchime replied 6 years ago

I heart your florals! Awesome transformation of the windowpane pants outfit into a baseball game outfit.

I always love looking at your wiw's.

    nice, i especially like version #1 :)

Spectacular ensembles. I like the white pumps... on you, they're edgy...

Thanks for all the lovely comments ladies, I appreciate them! Thanks also for the input re the shoes in #5; I quite like the white, but would also happily wear with black or even my new floral pumps. Just felt like the white that day. My sis has a good eye (and a minor aversion to pencil skirts), so it did make me think.

    Angie, thank you <3

Rachy, I wonder why that is? On some people white pumps certainly wouldn't be. I asked my sis if the shoes were too saccharine for her and she said she wasn't sure, just that she wasn't feeling it. Sweet or not, I'm not about to give them up!

truly great combos!! - I especially love #'s 4 & 5 - the skirt with the bit of sheer - very nice and the white slim leg pants with the black pumps and floral blouse - so springy all of them - I am envious of both the outfits and the GREEN behind you!!

  • pil replied 6 years ago

So glamorous with your heels and high contrast. I'm glad you're able to post these days!

  • Sveta replied 6 years ago

Love to see your posts again, Aida! Florals look beautiful on you and it is nice to change the things up, right?

I think the floral pencil and boxy top is my favorite and I think white pumps totally work here (but black would be  fab too). However I like the rest of them too, it is just this "poppy" pencil steals my heart every time I see it :-)

  • Aubergine replied 6 years ago

The florals look great on you! The one in #4, especially, looks like it was just made for you. And you have one of the chicest ballgame outfits I've ever seen!

  • shevia replied 6 years ago

I think every outfit is great. I love the shorts in #1 - nice length and the cropped jacket looks perfect here. Love the black and white pants on you and how you transitioned your outfit. Also the fit of your white jeans is perfect and the jacket is terrific. Actually I will call this the week of exemplary proportions!

  • kellygirl replied 6 years ago

Every one if these are a home run. I can't pick a fave. The cropped pants in 1 are awesome as are the floral with white/pumps. I have a poison eye for white pumps but you are making me wonder why!

  • CocoLion replied 6 years ago

Love them ALL.  I had to show my boyfriend the Mariners outfit (he's sitting next to me, we're watching Giants vs. LA Dodgers).  He loved how the sunglasses worked with the overall outfit!

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Thank you all very much for the wonderful comments and great feedback! :D

Sveta, yes the florals do feel like a good mix up for me right now. I'm happy to see so many florals in the stores that I like!

Denise, ooh fun! (Gosh that game is still going.. 12th inning??) Thanks to BF for noticing the sunnies, I did match the checks on purpose ^^
