WIW 04.02, 03

Well after the dress post, hope you're not all terribly disappointed but here are two very casual weekend outfits :)

  1. Saturday (new shirt). Worn out to breakfast and errands with my husband, then we met up with a friend for dinner and bowling in the evening. I learned that plaid is fun under black lights.
  2. Sunday (new drapey tee, hemmed new straight-leg jeans). Worn to grab burgers for lunch and be lazy around the house. Inspired by Una's thread about the western look. I am pretending that it's not bloody cold out even though it's still, for some reason, in the mid-40s (and as I write this, it's randomly started snowing outside *sigh*).

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

Oooh! How fun! Plaid for Cosmic Bowling = FUN!!!

Your western inspired outfit is brilliant. You prove the In Style article's theory. Your take on western is brilliant. Your new jeans look great, too! Hemmed perfectly.

Sorry it is so cold there! Sending you warm weather wishes.

such chic looks! I love how a little topper & accessory can do magic tricks.

Aida, this trench was made for you! I can't get over, how perfectly it fits you! Gorgeous :-)

I adore the unexpected splash of teal in outfit # 1 and the pop of red in # 2 with your bag!

You forgot to mention the best part of your first outfit - the great teal shoes!! I really like the addition of the jacket in the second outfit. Your WIWs are so fun to look at - thanks for sharing!

Not desapointed at all. You make casual look very chic.

Agreeing with Celia--you rock casual. I can't pick a fave but I'd love to wear either of these. That new tee is quite fab on you. It's raining today so I might just have to pull out the Fryes and copy you.

Both looks are great. You do the long and lean jean thing so very, very well... And I love how understated your spin on western reads. (I love western touches but find that there is a very fine line between fabulous western detail and pitiful dude ranch dreck.) L

Looking great as always, I like you simple casual outfits, very unfussy, but put together!

Details on the teal shoes, please!!!!

Thank you for the comments ladies! Glad you all like the western inspired look in all its simplicity; my husband was thrilled that I didn't "add anything weird" to it ;)

Lori - The pumps are "Sursey" by Madden Girl. I got this pair at DSW, they come in all manners of colors (MaryK has several of these as well!) and run TTS.

Fun round Aida, those jeans are great on you. You know I'll vote for no.2 as my fave, don't you :) I really, really like how you lift ordinary items to the elements of a great outfit.

Love the plaid shirt with the patent heels!

And you instantly won me over with the red bag :)

  • nicoleb replied 13 years ago

Nothing wrong with casual! You still look great!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thank you Ornela, Angie, and Nicole! This was the first time my weekend outfits felt much more dressed down than what I wear during the week, probably a good sign that my normal daily wear is getting dressier :D

This is a great set! I wore my teal MG Surseys today! :)

I just love the "much-loved-and-almost-threadbare" vibe of that white tee!

I have a handful of drapey and a few slouchy tees and have yet to figure out how to make them look pulled together. Your #2 look has given me ideas! I think wearing more polished shoes and jacket helps. I like your SL jeans, that is my favorite denim silhouette right now as it's not as extreme as either wide leg or skinny jeans.

How do you stay fashion inspired in bad weather? I start to lose interest and give way to practicality. (It snowed today.)

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

    Thanks Mary and Denise!

Mary - Yeah, me too! I decided that "crisp tees" just don't work for me, they don't stay crisp past a few wears and I wear tees to be generally slouchier. I love the drape on this one!

Denise - It definitely gets hard to dress for weather that requires function start trumping form. On those days I try my best to incorporate my "form" items into the outfit instead of simply adding them into an outfit (not sure if that makes sense); it's a different type of challenge for sure. Bright colors are also helpful (bright scarves!), and I like playing with new color combinations when I'm feeling least inspired. Endless days of rain gets pretty uninspiring though ;)
