WIW 03.24-27

A few more outfits, from over the weekend and the start of this week.

  1. Saturday. It wasn't quite as nice up north as it was in Seattle (only got up to 55F), so hoseless was a bit ambitious for the weather ;) Worn out to lunch; we took the bike for the first time together this season. The dress was surprisingly easy to wear with the gear, I'll definitely be doing it again.
  2. Sunday. Mostly at home lounging, but a couple friends stopped by for a short visit, and I also took a quick trip to the grocery. Kitty has also been enjoying the warmer weather, and keeps photobombing ^^
  3. Monday. Worn to work, and later out for tacos with hubby, sis, and her boyfriend. This was inspired by Mary's plaid+sequins look, but as I don't have any sequins I substituted in this scarf which has loads of sparkly silver threads running through it. And then I added my bright orange blazer because I like color, and close-on-the-color-wheel color pairings.
  4. Tuesday. Worn to work (left), then later to a hockey game (right). I pined after this blouse earlier in the year after not jumping on it quickly enough, then much later randomly found a returned one in my size, at a super reduced price! Not my usual top style, but I like it. A very, very rare occasion where my daytime outfit was too dressy for the evening festivities; I changed into this sweater and necklace before the hockey game, but of course left the pumps (devoted member of Team Heels!).

Love the dress in #1 and how awesome that you went riding in a dress! Love the moto jacket and helmet "accessory". You look brilliant in bright orange! Love all your outfits!

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Wow, Aida, that blouse in the last pic is killer on you; so glad you rescued it from a sale rack! And I'm loving #3. It's neat how you were on the gingham thing ahead of the trend! The blue dress is gorgeous on you, and so much fun with the helmet!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 12 years ago

The dress doesn't seem like your usual style but it looks great on you. I love it with the gear. I agree with Suz. That print top in the last set is stunning. I love the print and colors.

Love the dress on you and really love to see you transform it into biker ready gear. Love the blouse in #4, love the pale tones with the flat oxfords and graphic scarf in #2 and am wild about the entire look in #3. You look great in those colors and the whole thing is super (fire tones really suit you!).

Fab outfits, Aida! You wear dresses so well. I really love that print and style on you. Nice pattern mixing with the shoes. There's something very appealing about the simplicity of this one! The orange and gingham combo is super fresh and fun. Great eye popping colors--very energizing. Digging the new blouse--I picked up something very similar at the Rack too. (I can't remember the pattern though.) I also really like the light shoes with that ensemble. I always feel like I need lower contrast shoes with black pants--must try this. I'm enjoying seeing all of your WIW's again. We've been starved for your posts!

Lovely outfits! I absolutely adore you in orange!

  • Sarah A replied 12 years ago

These are all such great looks! I like the dress in #1 and the blouse in #4 a lot but the yellow gingham with the orange blazer takes the cake for me! So fab!

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

Fab outfits, Aida. I especially love you in that dress, and in the yellow/orange. There's something about you and adjacent colors that always makes my heart sing!

  • Julie replied 12 years ago

Blue dress looks fab!! You should do it with the jeans even if you're not about to jump on the bike. They are made for each other.

  • Joy replied 12 years ago

Such a fab week that it's hard to pick a favorite! I love the dress and shoes in #1, the light neutrals of #2, the gold and orange of #3, and that beautiful blouse and your heels in #4. Lots of inspiration here

  • ironkurtin replied 12 years ago

I'm starting to see how you mix and match - NICE!

  • Mo replied 12 years ago

I love the dress on you! And I hadn't ever thought of nude pumps with a mostly black outfit. Hmm. . . . must try that.

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

Aida the dress is gorgeous on you. A little different from what I am used to seeing you in but I like it alot. I am a big fan of dresses over jeans and you could certainly wear it that way (even when not riding) if you wanted to.

#2 is lovely and relaxed but still smart for a relaxed Sunday.

#3 is just a bust of sunshine. Beautiful color combination on you.

#4 is probably my favourite:) That blouse is devine and looks so lovely on you. As does the other black top. A very simple dressy look and very flattering.

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

My favourite is #3, what a fresh, zesty combo! I also think that shirt in #4 had your name on it all along. And love the practicality of the dress with jeans!

  • jayne replied 12 years ago

I second Merideth, you look lovely in the bright colors. Those plaid shirts are really a great casual way to add color!

  • Katiepea replied 12 years ago

You look great! I adore the colours you've used in #3, although you are naughty, because you're now making me crave Taco's and I've already had my dinner. (EEEEK!) I also adore your going out look - you are one stylish lady!

  • citygirldc replied 12 years ago

Aida, I love photos in #4 because of the structures of the outfit and the great blouse , plus the dark colors. I guess I'm a sucker for black so I tend to veer toward that color. The blue dress looks incredible on you too.

  • lyn67 replied 12 years ago

I love all, but last one black with light shoes is my favourite!!!

  • Lisa replied 12 years ago

#1-Very flattering dress here both for colors and shape on you. How fun that you converted the dress to a "tunic" with jeans for riding.
#2-I always enjoy blush tones at this time of year.
#3-My favorite outfit of the bunch as I know I've mentioned previously how much I like this orange blazer on you. The yellow shirt is great too. You can really rock these two strong colors! And the neutral scarf is perfect to tie them together. Nice job!
#4-Nice find with the blouse and at a good price.

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

Wow, can you work a dress, or what? That looks incredible on you.

I love that blouse in the last picture on you too.

  • Darla replied 12 years ago

Love #3 -- those citrusy colors look great on you!

  • krishnidoux replied 12 years ago

More style and beauty! My favourite ones are #1 and #4. Especially #4, it's lovely!

  • suburbiana replied 12 years ago

Everything is very flattering on you. I especially like #1 for the unexpected pairing of a girly dress with the motorcycle gear, and #3 for the bright shirt, scarf and blazer combo. I admire how you came up with just a little (but maximal oomph) twist for your outfits.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you ALL very much for the comments and feedback, ladies! I'm glad so many of you liked the nude shoe with the black jeans, that's one of my staples for cool weather in spring/summer. Also REALLY glad you guys didn't think the bright yellow/orange/sparkles was too crazy :D I'll wear my new blouse with confidence after such great YLF approval ^^

Kelly, I didn't even notice the pattern mix in #1! Animal prints truly are neutrals ^^ Is your new blouse a bow blouse too? I think that's what throwing me a bit with this one; a normal v-neck or split-neck would feel just fine.

Sarah, meee tooo! I think I can say with good confidence that adjacent pairings are my favorites, the closer the hues the better!

Julie and Deborah, you don't think this dress is too long for jeans? I'm coming around to the the dress-over-jeans look, but mainly have tried with shorter dresses. If you don't think it's too long I'll give it a try with normal jeans (these are my Kevlar lined riding jeans, hehe).

Amy, *giggle* thanks! I need 2 boost buttons for that ^^

Suburbiana, thank you! I enjoy coming up with those twists that make outfits "me", though it certainly took some time to get to the point where I can do it consistently. I think it's a mix of the items you choose for yourself and the way you accessorize them, but of course personality plays a big part :)

OMG, how did I miss this! Love the gingham-and-sparkle look! And I love that you are another F21 orange blazer sister along with Kelly and me! And we are also fab-Halogen-watercolor-print-pussy-bow-blouse twins!! FUN!!! It looks amazing on you!

Love the dress, and love how you motorcycle it up! And the shoes in #2 are just fab!

    Great set of outfits!!!

  • replied 12 years ago

So much to look at Aida! I love the pumps you're wearing with the dress. Are they snakeskin? The yellow gingham and orange is a super look. Love the bright colors on you. I know you have two signature hairstyles, but I'd love to see you in a chignon. Did you catch the sock bun tutorial on Manidipa's thread the other day? Love the black outfits too, with the new blouse! Fab!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Thanks Mary and Claire!

Mary, yay for blouse twins! I think you were the one who got me going on wanting it in the first place hehe! Glad you liked my gingham+sparkle look, I wouldn't have thought of it without you :D

Claire, I did see that tutorial and am interested in trying it! I've learned that I'm not skilled enough to do a chignon, it just turns into a frizzy mess :( In the summer I do wear a little ballerina bun and I also wear it half up sometimes, but yah lately I've been just doing these two signature 'dos (down, up). *looks around and lowers voice* I may be getting it cut quite a bit shorter soon though, still debating...

I've occasionally unintentionally worn heels to a hockey game and then I end up tripping going up or down the steep stairs! I'm impressed with your coordination. I actually really like the gray (?) heels with the black pants, feels very fresh and current.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Laura, those heels are indeed gray! I love wearing them as "nude" shoes. I did pay extra attention on the stairs, especially while holding my beer since we were on the second tier ;) Happily the arena we were at puts plastic tops on the beer like you would get on a soda (genius idea). I wear my heels almost everywhere, though, so I am a bit practiced hehe
