WIW 03.19-23

Well this past week we had some hints of actual spring weather finally! Some of you may remember that last year I did a long exercise of not wearing black for spring/summer; this year I've decided to lighten up again, but won't fully skip wearing black (I learned what I needed to last year hehe). These were all worn primarily for work, and #5 was also for date night. I'll post my weekend looks later in the week, I'm never sure how many photos to post at once ><

  1. Debut of my bright orange blazer (same one that Kelly has!), and wearing my current favorite spring color palette: brown + taupe (no taupe here though) + gray + cream + bright trendy color (in this case orange).
  2. Pretty typical spring outfit, these olive skinnies with my chambray top act as an outfit base quite a bit for me. Trying out a cropped-over-long look, though I think it'd work better with an even more cropped sweater. I hope to wear these booties a lot more this year!
  3. One of my most favorite outfits ever!! Also follows the same color palette as #1, debuting a new super oversized silky scarf. This outfit is full of items I consider cornerstones of my style: hoops, scarf, shorts, blazer, boots. I kind of hope we have a few more cold days just so I can wear a couple variations of this :D
  4. Dry enough to start wearing my wide-leg pants. Following my fave spring color palette yet again (three times in one week!) with denim added. I would like to replace this striped tee with a similar soft, silky blouse if I can find one.
  5. Attempt at wearing this sweater dress transitionally, I love how it turned out! These tights are "new", purchased back in Nov. from Express and finally warm enough to wear them. I was going for a gradient pattern mix, largest pattern on top (dress) to smallest on bottom (shoes). What do you gals think of the flats here? I really like the vibe, and hubby liked it too (yay!).

You wear orange SO well. What a great color for you to be widely available that season! Love the scarf/shorts outfit particularly.

  • MsMary replied 12 years ago

Squee!!! *waving excitedly* I have that orange blazer, too, and OMG I am TOTALLY going to wear it with gray on the bottom TOMORROW in your honor!!!

These are all mad awesome. Love #2 (note to self: copy this), the colors in #3 are totally to die for, the FLARES in #4? OMG FAB!! And I love the flats with the funky hose in #5!

    Wow. What a week!!

  • taylor replied 12 years ago

I just can't get past the utter fabness of #3...one of my favorites ever too!!! KILLER!

  • morethanbeige replied 12 years ago

OMG, these are so fab, Aida. #3 is killing me! It is so fantastic. And the orange outfit in #1. These are all great. I love your style.

  • replied 12 years ago

Looking great as usual. really love #1. Liking the gradient patten mix on the last too and yes the flats are working!

  • Jaime replied 12 years ago

Really like all of these. The dress with the polka dot stockings and flats is sensational. I love the orange scarf and whole look in #3. The scarf looks like it is on fire! The other outfits are fab too - orange is great on you!

  • annagybe replied 12 years ago

    Love #1 and #3.

  • christieanne replied 12 years ago

Love your color capsule looks. Fabulous!
I never like shorts with tights/stockings - until saw your outfit in #3.That looks phenomenal on you and so well put together.

The pattern mixing is great in dress look. And I really like #1 with the new orange blazer - orange is good on you!

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Oooh. These are all great outfits, but I especially love #1 and #3!! You look sensational in the orange.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 12 years ago

You realize of course that Angie is gonna be ALL OVER outfit #3!!!! Absolutely STUPENDOUS!!!

I love you in orange - the blazer is fab, the scarf is fab...it's all FAB!

I also adore the dress and polka dot hose in the last outfit. So chic!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

Oh Wow!!! You had me at #1!

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

Aida, #1 is SO COOL it's positively hot! And by the way, there is no. such. thing. as 'too many Aida outfits' at once! That is some serious coinage!

Also, no one wear shorts+tights+blazer like you do! And the pattern gradient is sheer, dotty genius! (sorry, couldn't resist!)

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

Can't pic a fave but seriously the shorts outfit is wonderful! I love those boots. And #5 is inspired. I love what you have done with the hose and the shoes...stunning.

  • Mo replied 12 years ago

Admit to liking #3 so much I'm trying to save it as inspiration :)

  • fashionista replied 12 years ago

My fav look too is #3. Loved the boots in them and the shorts over tights, and the layering is fabulous. Look #2 is also fav. Your orange blazer and grey bottom #1 is something I need to give a try. You carry wide leg pants so well, I would be drowned in them being petite. And loved your look and esp. flats in #5
    All in all great outfits.

  • Mona replied 12 years ago

You are rocking the orange blazer. #3 is my personal favourite.

  • Jjsloane replied 12 years ago

Fantastic collection of outfits. I think my favorite is #3 - you look great in shorts and those boots. All the touches of orange are great (and just enough)

  • krishnidoux replied 12 years ago

    Very inspirational!

#1: Love, love love this combination. Not sure about the bag and scarf though. something seems off. Maybe it's the two together.

#2: Cute and dynamic! Love the pairing of white boots with black coat!

#3: Wow, so elegant. You show how to wear hot pants with sass and chic. And it looks totally appropriate. How do you do it?

#4: Fresh, spring inspiring outfit, it looks so comfortable too. The orange necklace is the perfect little addition!

#5: You are so lovely in dresses! And what a fun idea, those oversized polka dots. The bag is perfect, but again, I am not sure about the scarf. This scarf. I understand the off-setting intent, but it's just that the visual distance between the rest and the scarf seems too much. Also the bag's shade warms up the outfit, whereas this one cools it and one doesn't know which it is. Just my very personal perception.

    Thank you for posting!

You look gorgeous in orange, Aida. I share the love for #3, too, and #5 with the spotty legs - beautiful. I've not seen you in wide legs before, I don't think, they're lovely on you, you look really elegant.

  • Sona replied 12 years ago

love the play with orange and different bottoms ( shorts, flares, skinnies!). outfit # 5 is fab to the power of fab!

  • Tanya replied 12 years ago

What an amazing set of outfits! You are so creative, and #3 is really out of this world! I love the idea of denim/chambray shirt with olive skinnies, will try that in the future.

  • Lisa replied 12 years ago

#1-Orange is YOUR color! This blazer just makes your skin glow.
#2-I really like the layering here, the cropped sweater shows off your layering really well. And I like the white sweater and boots bookending here too.
#3-Again bringing orange that's a great color with the taupes here. Swap out the shorts for jeans and we are enjoying the same fun outfit formula.
#4-Now that is how to rock a wide leg trouser. I really like the drape of these on you.
#5-The classic dress with the fun accessorizing and flats strikes me as a nice European look here. Great outfit!

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

Wow, Aida, I love you in orange. That jacket is such a great find. You and Kelly are leading the pack with that one. And I love the other touches of orange, too, and the flats wtih the sweater dress, because they're so unexpected and fresh for you!

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

All gorgeous outfits, Aida!! LOVE the dress with the flats and the chic-factor of #2 and #3. #1 screams Spring in the best Seattle way.

You made me chuckle with your comment about #4: Only a Seattleite would understand that wearing wide leg trousers means that the weather has dried up. KILLER look!

  • goldenpig replied 12 years ago

Wow, these are all fantastic! You are right, #3 is one of your best outfits ever! I love how you pull off the shorts and tights look. I think you are inspiring me to dust off my own wool shorts that I bought last fall but haven't worn all that much. I love you in orange--#1 is such a great on-trend Spring look! You look great in polka dot tights too! I love seeing your WIW's, so inspiring!

  • christy replied 12 years ago

Fab as always! Your shorts with tights outfits always stand out to me and this one is no exception. And I LOVE #4. That orange looks so terrific on you and the flats in #5 are super cute.

  • kellygirl replied 12 years ago

Squee! I love your WIW's Aida! Every one of these is so stylish and uniquely you. My faves are 1 and 3. The orange blazer is to die for paired with the grey. You look so sassy. I always love your shorts outfits--you can do no wrong in this silhouette. It looks so sophisticated and edgy. The boots are fab with this! Awesome wide leg pants too--I want to incorporate more of this in my rotation too. Gorgeous all the way around, Aida!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Gosh you guys, thank you SO MUCH for all of your wonderful comments and feedback!! I am so flattered and humbled. To all who commented on me in orange, bright orange is one of my favorite colors so I am making sure to stock up while it's available :D

Mary, woo jacket triplets! Can't wait to see your orange+gray bottoms outfit. #2 was based on that one outfit we both wore last year with the white blazer (remember that one?), but instead of a white blazer I wore a cream sweater ^^

Shevia, ooh it does look like it's on fire! I kind of love that :)

Manidipa, well I just didn't know which button to click, boost or comedy! Love the pun (I'm a punny gal myself), teehee!

Deborah, glad you like the pattern mix! I've been finding these flats quite fun to mix with and am now on the hunt for another patterned shoe. Surprisingly versatile!

Fashionista, I am actually petite too (5'3") and I love my wide leg pants (I have an even wider pair of denim). I definitely think that us shorter gals can wear them; it can be tricky to find the right pair and proportions but it certainly can be done, especially with heels like I have here (though these are only 2.5" or so).

Krish, thanks for the detailed feedback! You are spot on about the purse/scarf issues in #1 and #5. In #1, the browns are much much warmer than it appears in the photo so I think the purse works, but the scarf would probably have been better on the coral side (like in #2). In #5 I definitely should've worn my red purse or leopard scarf. I'll stop being lazy and swap my purses 0:)

Butterfly, I don't get to wear my wide leg pants as often as I would like unfortunately. Most of the year the ground here is at least somewhat wet so I can only wear them in spring and summer when it's dry out since they all have hems to the ground.

Angie, thank you so much! I had been feeling a bit fashion-slumped with our poor weather until I read your post on on spring trends in winter and put away some of my winter clothes. And then happily the weather started cooperating, and I just got very inspired :D I totally change outfit plans if it's dry enough to wear floor skimming hems, gotta sport 'em when we can!

Natalie, awesome! I'm a big fan of shorts year-round so I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Kelly, ooh I don't think I've seen you wear wide legs before? Can't wait to see! I am also looking forward to getting out my SUPER wide dark denim to wear with the orange blazer }:D

  • kellygirl replied 12 years ago

@Aida: If I can ever fit back into them, I will post a WIW ; )

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Kelly I hear you. I'm working on that with my red jeans right now ><

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

So fab!! These are all Aida-tastic, but I really love 1 and 3--you are just so gorgeous in that orange!! And I always love your shorts/tights look.

I should also tell you that I think you have been my #1 inspiration for the partial tuck :).

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

    I love your style, Aida!

  • Joy replied 12 years ago

What a fabulous week! I love your spring palette and want to try orange and grey with blush now.
My favorite is #1 followed closely by 3 and 5. The flats look great with this outfit.

  • replied 12 years ago

I'm so glad to see your WIW's again! Amazing set!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you Jonesy, Amy, Joy, and Zap!

Jonesy, I am thrilled to be your semi-tuck inspiration :D

  • Sarah A replied 12 years ago

love your wiws here... So hare to pick a fave as all are great looks. I think that 1 and 4 are really hitting inspiration for me. Thanks for posting!

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

#3 is OFF THE CHARTS! And I love the orange and grey combo in #1. Way to rock it Aida-style. I am all over orange - the current trend is finally the right shade for me of true orange (not pumpkin or melon or coral). YAY!

  • ironkurtin replied 12 years ago

You look great! I love all of these looks!

Except... I don't adore the cropped jacket over the outfit with the shorts (in #3). I'm not a cropped jacket fan period, though, so take it for what it's worth. The rest of that outfit is spot on.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you Sarah, Una, and Ironkurtin :D

IK, I appreciate your honest feedback! I'm sure you've noticed that most of my jackets are almost-cropped or cropped, but I do understand that not everyone likes those and I can see what you're saying for #3 :)
