WIW 03.09, 10 [white and blue]

Short work week, as tomorrow morning I'm off to Arizona for a much needed week of baseball and sunshine ... and a shopping date with Claire, woohoo! :D

#2 Monday - I've been having fun using these mid-rise pants the way I would proper high-waisted pants, if I wore them. Paired with a boxy cropped sweater and an only-visible-when-I-move layer of black underneath (cami, socks). Cream booties for bookending, long silver earrings to add a little extra vertical integrity, and orange lipgloss because it's my favorite with white+blue. You can see why I'm not into high-waisted pants for me -- I won't have any torso left!

#3 Tuesday - Felt inspired to pull out my own very boxy top after seeing Neel's fab outfit this morning. This ponte top is very stiff and very rectangular, pretty opposite what's underneath. Even the neckline is stiff; the faux-leather piping causes it to stand out resulting in a flower-pot effect along the neckline. Paired with flared jeans to balance the volume (plus the fitted thighs add some structure), black pumps to pick up on the black trim, and plum lippie because it felt the least expected with the white+blue.

#4 Detail photos.

Hope you gals have a fabulous week! Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

Your hair looks cute like that!

Love the patterned pants with cropped sweater.

I really like the mix of patterns that you wear and combine in your outfits.

I love blue and white together.  =)  I feel the same way as you about real high rise pants, and I also use mid rise as an alternative.  I also feel like I get reverse muffin top in a lot of high rise waists, where I get a bulge below the waistband, which is really unattractive.  For me the best waistband is one that hits me right ON the muffin.

Love your cropped cabled sweater.  That is one of the things in my (too long) queue of knitting projects.

    Thanks ladies!

Ceit, I've been wearing my hair up more and more as it gets longer :)

Columbine, thank you very much. Sometimes I go a little crazy with pattern mixes, but I really enjoy finding interesting mixes.

Diana, I hear you on all those high-rise issues! It feels even more foreign to me since I'm usually sporting low rises and low on my hips. What kind of cropped sweater are you thinking of knitting? I wore this one more than I expected to this season.

Great looks. #3 is such an elegant look on you Aida - I love it :)

#1 is swoon worthy to me, but then, I have been in love with those pants since the very first time you showed them. Love the bookending with the sweater and light booties.

#3 is fabulous, too. Casual elegance.

Have fun with Claire and say hi from us all!!

Gorgeous and fun all round. A little '80s in the one outfit and a little '70s in the other. That's the Aida I know and adore.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

They both look great, but #1 is my favorite. Those pants look fab with the boxy top and the layer of black underneath.

Are you going to the Mariners spring training? Have fun!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Oh lucky you off to Arizona! Have fun with and say hi to Claire!

I like both of your outfits with cream tops! The peep of black is a great idea for an underlayer! Those pants are fun with the pattern. Oh I love some orange gloss too :)

I appreciate how you say that the fitted legs of the flares provides a level of structure. I never thought of that. Good point.

    Safe travels :)

Blue and white is my favourite combination, and those trousers in #1 are just the kind of pattern I gravitate towards. Love the touch of black underneath the crop top. I REALLY like this outfit combo.

What an inspired pairing of the print pants and cropped sweater! Your photography is amazing, too. Love the detail shots. You have a wonderful way with accessories and those small touches that make an outfit great. Your hair looks really stylish worn up like this. I'm envious of you long-haired ladies, you have so many options, and you are absolutely making the most of them. Have a fun trip!

    I want your booties :)

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

You are killing me Aida! I love the first outfit. I love the second outfit. Back to the first - this is exactly what I sometimes want to wear but I just don't have exactly the right proportions. This is perfect. And you are going to see Claire? I want to jam myself into a 3-D printer and pop out in Arizona and join the two of you. Please say hi from me!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

    Ooooh ..... a shopping date :-) :-) :-)

I am in love with outfit 1! Perfect proportions and love those cool shoes :-)

After seeing outfit 2, I want to try my boxy top with my bootcut jeans. Inspiration works two way :-) Have fun in Arizona x

Teeheeehee! I'm just having a right old giggle at the idea of Shevia in a 3D printer!

Aida, as always you put such thought and care into your outfits. I love how you rock the cropped top and the repetition of the sweater colour in those fab booties, plus the sliver of black at your midriff echoing hair colour. Also I'm loving the bit of pattern mixing in bag and pants. The flare jeans outfit has a touch of sporty about it, combined with 70's glam. Super!

Say Hi to Claire for me. I loved meeting the two of you at SSIF :) Have fun!

Blue and white seems so perfect for spring (even if it's not quite technically spring).  I love the patterned pants and white booties in #1.  The top in #2 doesn't look stiff in the photos and has a modern shape.

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

That's a really fun pairing of the cropped sweater with the patterned bottoms.

  • Summer replied 9 years ago

Lovely as always, Aida.  More love here for the patterned pants.

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

Ah, Aida!  White and blue...two of my favorite colors...and then to know you and Claire will be/are right now(!) together...and are two of my favorite people has me wishing I could have joined in the fun.  Hugs to you and Claire and have fun watching spring training baseball.

I love the way you paired the above with flared jeans.  Brilliant and looking good, as usual.

    P. S.  Will you be eating a fried pickle while you're there?  I still want to try one, if I could ever find them on the menu somewhere.  :)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

I love the blue and white pants on you, Aida, and I'm with you on high waists. A mid-rise is plenty high for me! They do give you a nice long, leg line, and they look super fab with the cropped sweater and cream booties. I also love the way you're wearing the flared jeans--they look terrific on you, too.
Have fun on your trip and say "hi" to Claire for me! You lucky dog, you. :)

I am so jealous of your trip and shopping date! And your flares; I have some extra wides like that but can't decide on a hem. You make it look so easy! Here's to an exciting baseball season. :D

  • AM replied 9 years ago

I'm also jealous of your shopping date...and those flares! Well done. You look great in blue and white. And all the details provide so much interest.

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

Such lovely outfits, so fresh!  I especially like the 2nd one with the flares.  Blue and white is one of my favorite color combos.
