WIW 03.07-09

Work outfits from the early part of the week. Got up early enough to have my husband take my outfit photos, and since I had extra time in the morning started working on spring/summer wardrobe (behind the scenes). Summer dressing is by far my weakest season.

  1. Since I was up so early (3 hours earlier than normal), I made a new necklace which I actually wore in place of the robot (lower right), but I didn't feel like taking the photos over. Pardon the terrible exposure, I got all flummoxed by the sun being out (!!).
  2. Muted colors in one of my favorite palettes. I forgot the Seattle type gathering was this night; I usually like to dress pseudo-businessy for it. So, oops. (Cat tees are dressy, right?? At least she's wearing a hat.)
  3. Went thrifting in the morning before work for spring/summer stuff with success in jeans, skirts/dresses/shorts not so much. Been trying to find ways to style this sweater differently AND wear more button-ups (downs?); I thought this pairing worked nicely, but it got mixed reviews.

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

Lovely as always. I love that t in Number #2, very funky/cool. Cool necklace too.
I'm not sure about #3, the first pic is very laid back/casual but the jacket looks quite regal in a way. Sort of like taking off the jacket would add a completely different vibe to the whole outfit.
I love your pics, I wish I could have them taken like that!! They are amazing and make you look like a model.

No.1 is my favorite, no surprises I guess, lovely clean lines and bold separates that work so well together. I am even more amazed now that I know you make your own jewelry!
No.2 is cute, I like the cat tee, it's fun!
No.3 has mixed feelings from me too, I love the black coat, and from the rest of the outfit I'd like to see either skinnies or leans, or the sweater a size smaller - somehow the top and bottom parts together have drowned your figure. I hope I'm making some sense with saying that.

Love #1--what a gorgeous color combination. Very bold and striking. Nice necklace--you have many talents besides making tally charts : ) ! #2 is fun--what an adorable tee! I see you added a low contrast button down to one of my very favorite Aida outfits--great idea. The black shoes tie it together nicely--I'm surprised it got mixed reviews. You are getting some great use out of that fab red bag!

I love the colour combos in outfit 1, Aida! And that trench keeps stealing the show, whatever you pair it with;-)
2 is a lovely outfit, although I wouldn't call it 'dressy';-) I like this colours together a lot as well.
And I'm smiling about the blue nails in outfit 3, makes me look forward to Spring!

Also: making a new necklace so early in the morning?!! Respect!!-)

I love all three outfits, as usual. The shoes in #3 look great (whatever we can see of them). Your pictures and collages are so beautiful.

Thanks for the feedback ladies! Glad everyone likes the color combo from #1, I'm hoping to pick up a lighter item in the green for spring/summer. Looks like #3 is getting mixed reviews here, too. Interesting!

Mumtojessandluke - In general I like my outerwear to be dressier than my innerwear. Thanks for the sweet comment about my photos, you're making me blush here at work!

Ornela - I haven't worn the sweater in #3 with skinnies due to it being so oversized, but I'll give it a try. You may or may not see it ;)

Kelly - Happy that you like the button-up-under-a-sweater look here (I keep forgetting to do it); I have such a hard time thinking of how to style this sweater differently! Hoping to try this with a white one, too.

Inge - I have a huge pile of jewelry to make that I keep putting off; hopefully I can continue waking early to make them. Who needs to sleep? ;)

chouette22 - Thank you! I know I should wear skirts/dresses more often so my shoes get a chance to be seen, hehe. The heels in #3 are black patent pumps (these ones).

    #1 is great!

Great casual, yet sophisticated looks here, Aida! Just the type of look I'd love to emulate. #1 is my favorite, I love the colors and the tall boots. Cute kitty tee in #2, love the zipper pocket pants....they are like cargos without the pockets. In #3, those patent leather shoes really elevate the whole look!

You always look great, Aida! I love you in those hooped earrings. And all Seattleites should own a bright handbag in order to combat a grey day :)

  • chouette22 replied 13 years ago

Oh Aida, thanks for the link to those shoes! I should look for a pair of patent heels, they look just fab with pants. I am with you, I often regret when my shoes are not seen enough with PPL pants, but a patent one like yours still makes a statement.

#2 is super cute. You have a devilish look in your eye. ;-)

  • Katiepea replied 13 years ago

Your style makes you stand out from the greyness of the Seattle background.

I love the cat t-shirt in #2 - it is brilliant; you wearing purple in #1 and the general vibe of #3.

(I'm also glad to read that you struggle with warmer weather - I do too. Heat is my style nemesis - I have no idea why I decided to move somewhere so hot! :-))

  • Jonesy replied 13 years ago

You look fab, as usual! I love the deep teal/green paired with the chestnut boots in 1; the t-shirt is really cute in 2, and I love those light olive pants; you look great in the bootcuts in 3.

  • Lisa replied 13 years ago

Love that T in #2. And those brown boots in #1 are very fab. I have yet to see you have an off week. Good job!

  • Sue replied 13 years ago

Aida you have such impeccable style! Love looking at all your WIWs! Beautiful as always. :D

  • rae replied 13 years ago

Loving #1 the most -- the green, the brown, and that red bag! Yowza!

I'm looking forward to your outfits this Spring. I have trouble dressing for Spring/Summer also, and your Winter ones are so cute, I'm sure I'll have to take notes from you! It is always so hard to dress when it's so hot you don't want to put on clothes... o_0

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks for all the lovely comments, everyone!

Cilleena - I picked those olive skinnies up in place of cargoes because I didn't want the extra thigh width. I find them very versatile and much more flattering!

Angie - Thanks very much! I am trying to work in a little more polish to my look :)

Katiepea, Rae - Last summer I did terribly dressing for heat, and in spring I was still experimenting and trying to develop some sort of style. So I'm hoping this year will be improved! My plan for the heat is to come up with a few outfits that I like, jot them down, and keep them in the closet. Then when it's too hot to think at least I've got something ready from when my brain was less melty :D

My favorite is look #1. You looks so pretty in those colors. And, of course I adore the red handbag!

  • catgirl replied 13 years ago

I am so Team Hair Down - it just looks special. You look great, and I think the cut of the t and cardi/jacket in 2 is very flattering to your figure.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

    Thank you Julijuli and Una!

(Una, I'm actively working on finding a way to wear my hair down more without sacrificing my non-daily washing routine. Getting closer!)
