WIW 02.09 semi-tucked look #2

Another semi-untucked look a la JCrew, based off the 3rd style on this blog post (my first one here). Didn't take a photo of it from the back this time but it looks normal. I apologize for the wet hair, just didn't have time to dry it this morning. The whole thing is even more relaxed looking now that my hair has dried (as seen in #2).

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

Thoughts - Oooh; half-tucked! AWESOME. I wish I had the guts to half-tuck something. I probably would if I looked that good :p

Comments - I am seriously jealous of your hair. I wish my hair looked that wavy and dreamy. Then I'd be Dr. McDreamy :P Lol!

Questions ... why don't I have wavy hair? *pout*

I think this is my favorite of the semi-tucked looks.

Lyn - The semi-tuck is growing on me! Worth trying, you could certainly pull it off though it takes some fiddling to find the sweet spots. Sorry I can't help with the curly hair, but you've got an adorable cut! When my hair is that short it gets very.. fro-ish :)

Anna - Mine too. I think this is the most practical/least contrived of them as well. That said, it was awfully fussy to get "just so", but I would expect that, as with anything, it would improve the more I try it.

lol, next time I get a chance to wear casual clothes, I'll fiddle around and go for a semi-tucked in look, just for you! :)

    Wish me luck!

FABULOUS, Aida. Love it. Love the sweater/top on you--relaxed without being sloppy.

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Lyn - Angie's blog post about it has some good examples, and you can see other fashion bloggers sporting it as well. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with :D

Stephanie - Thanks! I think the trick with this is truly to have a drapey top that fits well. And a good bit of swagger so it looks like you did it on purpose ;)

Love! I think you need the long curly hair to go with the look :)

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks Angie! It does look much better with the long curly hair :) Must not have looked too weird, hubby didn't comment on it (that or he didn't like it, but not enough to say something).

Oh - this is the perfect way to wear the semi-tucked look. It looks so natural and easy! Great look on you. Also, your hair is gorgeous! Thanks for posting!

Jeans and sweater are super-flattering! I covet your sweater, a perfect hommage a stripes without being too stripe-y.

Did you have your pants hemmed to be so PPL or did you get lucky?

  • Jonesy replied 13 years ago

You have nailed the half-tucking! Love the striped sweater on you!

  • rae replied 13 years ago

    Woohoo, welcome to semi-tucking!

This is just perfect! Love the semi-tuck, love the outerwear, and you are having the best hair day ever!!

Oh, and I think we're going to be shoe twins today! :)

What a great look! Love! I tried a semi-tucked but I must confesse it went wrong and I deleted the photo eh eh

Gorgeous, Aida. Which jeans are these? They're great.

  • kellygirl replied 13 years ago

Love this, Aida! You have got the semi-tucked thang perfected! Great top--I love stripes on you. I'm amazed how well you wear horizontal considering your strong shoulder line. You always look so perfectly balanced!

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks very much for the comments ladies! Glad this went over so well :D

Coco - I have never gotten my pants hemmed (though I should since I'm short), I was simply turning down most jeans because the length was wrong AND I wear tall heels to make up the extra distance; luckily most "regular" length jeans are perfect for me with heels but "short" is usually too short to wear with flats. I'll probably start hemming them if needed instead of simply not getting them :)

Rute - Aw, if you try the semi-tuck again I'd love to see it!

Lynne - These jeans are a few years old, made by Anchor Blue (non-premium denim, I wish they draped better!).

Kelly - I think the trick is to have a neckline that breaks up the stripes so they don't run directly shoulder to shoulder; most of my striped tops are v-necks, which breaks the line quite a bit. When I wear the ones that don't have that break I try to wear pants with some kind of flare to help balance it out; I think this top works because the stripes angle UP on the shoulders :)

I thought I commented on this photo elsewhere... ??? Did you post it in another thread? In any case - love the demi-tuck!

  • morethanbeige replied 13 years ago

I really like this look on you Aida. You make it look so natural and cool. Pretty sure it wouldn't look that way on me. haha

  • Aida replied 13 years ago

Thanks Una and Morethanbeige! Una, I posted this as my examples in Marley's photo collage question thread, that's probably where you saw it :)
