WIW 01.15-20 in the snow

Well as most of you know we had snow in Seattle last week ;) I love love love snow, but have little in my wardrobe (besides snowboarding gear) to accommodate it because we really don't get much. It was an interesting challenge, and I feel for those of you who have proper winters with long-term snow to deal with!

  1. Sunday, 15th. Worn for a walk at night before the really heavy snow fell.
  2. Monday, 16th. Worn out to dinner, again not too much snow yet.
  3. Tuesday, 17th. Now we have some good snow! My usual photo space is barely recognizable ;) Worn for a nearly full day of playing in the snow, so I opted for gear.
  4. Had to shovel the driveway, so why not build a snow fort... and then drive the car through it? 0:)
  5. Also walked down to the water (Puget Sound), which was just a beautiful view with the snow.
  6. Thursday, 19th. Worn to the grocery store to restock. Lots of abandoned cars in the parking lot, and tons of snow on my street.
  7. The most snow I've seen here in a long, long time!
  8. Friday, 20th. Worn out for date night dinner. The rain started up and the snow started melting, but still pretty icy out. I have to say, sweater dresses are awesomely warm and comfy for snow days!
  9. Saturday, 14th. Bonus kitty in the snow when it first started photos ^^ He really likes snow, for some reason!

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

EDIT: Yowza, those photos are BIG!

Love your photos Aida - they're beautiful. And you (and kitty too) seem to be having WAY too much in the snow! If you're looking for more snow, come on up to Winnipeg - we have ours until April!

I love your red handbag in #2 and #8 and you look gorgeous in your sweater dress. And what can I say about that fab plaid coat? LOVE!

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

Well you look absolutely fantastic, but WHERE ARE YOUR GLOVES?!

My favorite thing about your outfits (of the many aspects I adore) is how well everything fits you. You obviously don't settle for less than perfect, even when you're casual, and that makes such a big difference.

This whole panel of pics is so harmoniously put together and serene. All of the dark color, with the bits of red, and the whiteness of the snow. Just lovely. I'm so glad you kept that black dress; it looks beautiful on you. Love the snowboarding look!

    Thanks ladies!

Shannon, I have not been anywhere east of BC and would love to visit Winnipeg sometime! I can't imagine having snow all the way through April (except in the mountains) :o

Una, it was only 25F out ;) I have them on in the first two, but for the gear photos.. hubby and I were so blasted warm from shoveling that we took off nearly all of our layers, including gloves (hubby took his coat off for a while too), but they were on for the rest of the snow funnery. And I forgot to put them on when I took the photos in #6 and #8, but I was wearing them I promise! Thanks for the compliment on fit, I do try to make sure things fit right (but still haven't ventured into altering like I should *ducks*); it definitely makes a big difference!

Jonesy, I'm glad you like the minimal color scheme I went with for the week :D It just felt right for the weather. I have a few more snowy photo collages, but those will go up on my blog eventually hehe. I haven't gone snowboarding in a couple years (I have issues with getting off the lifts and my knees are now bad *sniffle*), but I do love my gear!

Love your outfits! But I'm with Una, you need some gloves. A pair or two of good warm (fun) gloves are a great low space taking way to change up winter outfits and help keep you warmer without needing heavier coats or more layers. It's amazing how a pair of gloves can up your cozy quotient.

Oh my!!! You are incredibly photogenic. All your outfits look spectacular on you and the pics are amazing! Love your black and white kitty!! Seriously, not only do you look fab in ALL the outfits, the photos themselves are exceptionally well done. Incredible!

What beautiful photographs; your posing and smile are so winning! Great outfits and I love the white coat. The houndstooth scarf and red bag are also favorites. Thanks for the bonus pics of Mr. Aida and kitty. Hope you didn't loose any shrubs. That looks like a really heavy, wet snow!

PS I'm missing being with the L.A. girls tonight, aren't you?

  • Sveta replied 12 years ago

Such beautiful pictures, Aida! We did not get much snow this winter and what we got has melted already... it is kind of sad because I like how pretty everything looks with the snow...except when I need to drive in all this falling snow :-)

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

    SO CUTE!!

I just love #3! I can't focus on the rest just yet.

  • RandomThoughts (Andrea) replied 12 years ago

I recognize that view, Aida! I took Regan down to Howarth Park not long ago to check out the water. Do you live over that way?

Great photos! And of course, fab outfits!

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

    Adorable photos!!!

  • Katiepea replied 12 years ago

Oh, with it being so hot and humid here it is refreshing to see some icy-cold weather. I am totally in love with your spotted scarf and am now wishing it were winter here, right this second!

  • AJ replied 12 years ago

The new dress looks FAB with the long necklace to distract from any IT tendancies.

Thanks for sharing your snow pics. We had a little bit of hail this morning and my kids got so excited about that. LOL!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

You make snow look so fun! Someone, put this gal in a vacation brochure!

I especially love the white/gray/brown combo in #1 - and of course #5 with your DH is adorable. Kitty looks like he/she is surveying the planet after the dawn of a new ice age, hehe.

  • DragonflyJane replied 12 years ago

What gorgeous photos - I'm wishing for some snow now too!

I especially like #8 with the burst of red.

My dog loves the snow but the kitties aren't too keen - the wimps!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks for the lovely comments, ladies! Glad you all enjoyed the snow photos :D

Refugee, I would like to improve my glove collection for sure. I have black (of course), turquoise, and orange but would love to get a few more fun colors/prints.

Meredith, thank you very much, I'm flattered!

Claire, a few of our privacy trees were crushed but hopefully we can tie them back up and try to help them recover. PS: totally! I think we need to make the LA trip an annual event!

Sveta, between you and me I love driving in the snow (I know I'm in the minority). Hubby and I may or may not have spent an evening with the car in an empty parking lot on the snowiest day 0:)

    Angie, *giggle* thank you ^^

Andrea, hah how fun! Hubby and I sometimes go with my sis and her dog for the off leash half of the park but Pooka is pretty scared of the waves hehe. We live about 15 minutes walking distance :)

    Amy, thanks!

Katiepea, ohh we should trade a hot-and-cold day eh? Hope the heat isn't too unbearable for you!

AJ, I really like wearing long necklaces or scarves with my dolman tops to help combat the IT emphasis, glad to hear it's working! Your kids sound just like me ;)

Rae, I definitely revert back to being a kid any time there's snow hehe

Rae & DragonflyJane, Kitty just wants out all the time! It took him a few seconds to realize there was white stuff on the ground; he thought about it for a second, then booked it to the bushes. Guess the cold was worth it ;)

Ah snow... there is something so spiritual about it!

Your storm finally moved down to CA and dumped 6 inches of rain in 4 days! And lots of snow just 1000 ft up. Now our local ski resorts can finally open, after a snow pack that was just 6% of normal.

Thanks for sharing your snow outfit dairy, I like what you wore to the grocery store to observe abandoned autos!

  • Jjsloane replied 12 years ago

Great ways to face the weather. Love all the photos and especially your snow fort and Kitty charging out.
My favorite is probably 6 - you look like you belong at the ski lodge (or in the shopping village for the ski resort). Hope you get that this is a compliment.

  • Irene replied 12 years ago

Can't get pass #3! So cute with that smile!

  • Debora replied 12 years ago

Great photos and I'm in love with that dress on you! So glad you got to play in the snow!

  • Jem replied 12 years ago

Ooh, love your photos! I think your snow fort is pretty funny. That would be fun to drive though. You may as well have fun, if it's going to be snowy occasionally. :-) Your outfits are great, I really like your boots. Your coat is great, too!

  • LoP replied 12 years ago

So beautiful. I miss having snow on the ground.

  • Lisa replied 12 years ago

Snow can be fun when it's freshly fallen. Love #3, you look like you are having a blast. And of course I like your sweater dress (twins, yay!). I do think they are so cozy to wear on cold winter days. It's almost like being wrapped up in a blanket with a sweaterdress.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Thanks ladies :D

Denise, wow that's a lot of rain in only 4 days! Hope there wasn't too much flooding, but at least now the ski slopes are open, eh?

Jjsloane, hehe thanks! The last time I was at a ski resort I was resoundingly less stylish, so I'll definitely file these outfits away for future reference :)

Lisa, yes exactly! I am happy to finally have one winter sweater dress, but boy if they were easier to find I have a feeling my closet would have far too many!
