WIW 01.07-09 (inspired by San!)

Weekend looks, and back to work!

  1. Saturday, worn out to breakfast then shopping! I haven't gone clothes shopping for myself in a couple months so I had fun and came away with a couple fab items which I will post soon. New earrings, an Xmas gift from my sister's boyfriend. At breakfast (our favorite breakfast haunt, The Vintage, where we ate for the Everett meetup), the waitress commented that my husband and I "both always dress so cute!" and that she loved how our styles match (her words!). Hubby was highly amused, as he doesn't think our styles are remotely similar ^^
  2. Sunday, pretty much a day off. My husband and I went out to lunch, I wore this :)
  3. Monday (today), worn to work. Inspired by this fabulous outfit that Sandy posted yesterday, and also wearing my lovely Secret Santa pendant from Kimlee. Love how this turned out! This is a new short coat I bought on Saturday, my first! Hope it passes YLF muster.

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

What a gorgeous scarf in #1! I also LOVE your new coat. The colours and the collar are just wonderful.

I love how you've styled the blazer (that's the Trouve one, right?) in #1 - it's casual and chic all rolled in together! And your new coat in #3 is gorgeous - love the colours, style and fit. Good choice! Your secret Santa pendant is lovely!

LOVE that cute little burgundy bag!! #3 is my favorite - really warming up to the shark bite hems.

I'm amused by your hubby's amusement - especially after you've said that he has misgivings about many of your pieces. Hm, maybe she DOES know what she's doing, fashion-wise, hubs! Hehe.

    You ROCK...nuff said!:)

Thanks ladies! Glad to hear favorable reviews on the coat so far :D

Rae, that was my reaction as well! About 10 minutes straight of giggling and "see? Seeee??" Hubby and I have established that he likes about half of the individual items in my closet, just not the way I put them together (so, you know, the styling part ;) ). I think I'm just too experimental for him. I would say his style is very classic, minimal, with a dose of urban. So we certainly have some overlap, but the kicker is that he is simply much more classic than I am and I'm much more trendy.

I love, LOVE the blouse on outfit #3. Is it still available?
    Great weekend looks.

Great looks - #1 and 3 are my favourite! Fabulous blouse and both jackets are very sharp.

I'll take the scarf thrown over your bag in 2 and then I'll fight you for that awesome new coat in 3! Beautiful, healthy-looking hair (see, I noticed) and too funny about hubs at lunch with that waitress. She's no dummy!

Love them all! And as always i love your detailed and well put together pictures! So inspiring <3

I've said it before and will wind up saying it again - you have the BEST collection of toppers!

  • Sara L. replied 12 years ago

I love all these outfits. Every detail is perfect.!

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

You look fabtabulous as always. Tee-hee - I've been scheming as to how I can copy San's outfit, too!!!

  • san replied 12 years ago

Whoa you look fantastic and I can't believe I would be an inspiration to you! I love the bellbottoms and the jacket. You always look fantastic and I have a lot to learn from you.

  • Jem replied 12 years ago

I love all of your outfits and especially LOVE your new coat!!!

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

    All outfits are fabulous, Aida!

I like the '70s edge that's still apparent in your style VERY much :)

  • Kari replied 12 years ago

Aida, you are one of the people on YLF that most makes me *want* to wear pants/jeans, despite my love for skirts/dresses, because you create such fab outfits in them. This group is no exception! The Sandy-inspired outfit is my favorite - you are both such inspirational dressers, and your Secret Santa pendant is an awesome nod to the 70s.

    (Loving the shorter hair, BTW!)

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thanks for the lovely comments ladies, I will happily toss the tags for this new coat!

Brenda, #2 is my almost-twin of your great trench :D

Zapotee, unfortunately I doubt the blouse in #3 is available; I bought it from Nordstrom last spring after Angie blogged it. Perhaps it's hiding online somewhere still?

Girl X, I'm slowly phasing out my cardigans in favor of jackets :) Thanks for the compliments on my toppers, one of the few places I've managed to continually be picky about getting what I truly love.

San, I always love to see your outfits, you have fabulous style!

Angie, thank you! I didn't realize just how many style elements I love are 70s-based until last spring, and then started loving even more of them with your guidance :) It makes me happy to hear that you like my 70s edge, I hope I can keep working those 70s style elements in an edgy way ^^

Kari, aww thanks so much :) All of your pants outfits I've seen have been awesome, and even more so once you started adding 70s glam elements to them.

Love, love! Beautiful scarf in #1, and funky triangle jewellery. These pics show that you wear the hippie vibe and the eighty's inspired styles equally elegantly! I can't decide which I like best, althoug I must say #2 is particularly stunning.

  • ButterflyLady replied 12 years ago

I love it all! Your new coat is gorgeous, in fact I'd steal all of outfit #3 from you, if I could LOL

You hair looks great - I meant to say that on your other thread.

  • nancylee replied 12 years ago

Love, love, love! You really rock that peacock blouse, Aida. :)

  • Jjsloane replied 12 years ago

I love love love the 3rd outfit (all are grand, but that one is superfantastic!) Love the coat and the blouse.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you Krishnidoux, ButterflyLady, Nancylee, and Jjsloane!

Krish, thanks! I love both 70s and 80s stylings very much :)

  • yankeebelle replied 12 years ago

Like it all, but LOVE 3! That top is awesome. Love the flowiness of it, yet it is flattering (i.e.--you aren't lost in it.). And that handbag is wonderful as well!

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

Hey, I was just reading your blog and didn't you say that outfit #1 is one of your very favorites ever? It is truly well-put-together and so creative! Love all of these, and I so need to get out the Hinge peacock blouse, but how do you wear it when it's cold? Do you have a full layer underneath it?

  • Nadia replied 12 years ago

If someone burglarizes your home and takes that blazer in #1 you'll know who's to blame! Seriously though, you have put together some really lovely outfits! :)

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Yankeebelle, thanks! I think the key to making these types of flowy tops work (for my hourglass shape) is that the shoulder is fitted, and the blouse actually mimics my own shape in its cut. I certainly haven't found many blouses like this that don't drown me!

Una, ooh yeah I did base #1 on that outfit on my blog (also, it makes me so happy to hear that you're reading it :D ) Last time I wore a white button up and red skinnies, but I think I just love how this jacket looks with boots :) The Hinge blouse is definitely not for Properly Cold Days; I only wear a tank underneath but it was randomly 50F yesterday so it wasn't bad.

Nadia, thank you! I will make sure my guard kitty is on duty ;)

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

That's right, the red skinnies! You need to post that outfit here.

I so want to wear the Hinge blouse, but it is best when worn as you did and not covered up by other layers... can't wait for spring.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Una I bet the Hinge blouse would be really fun under a blazer! We should give it a try :)
