WIW 01.02-06 (including a hair cut*)

* But don't worry, those who liked my hair long, it's not much shorter ^^ She did cut off about 6" though it's barely noticeable; not ONE person around me even realized it was cut, sigh.

I know I haven't been really been posting any WIWs for a while, but I'm hoping to get back into the habit of it :D Here's what I wore this past week, apparently feeling dark.

  1. Monday, worn out for dinner at a casual pub. I later changed the way I tied my scarf and liked it so much better I just had to take another photo of it.
  2. Tuesday, worn for a late night grocery store run for wine, cheese, salami & crackers!
  3. Wednesday, aaaand back to work! A good shot of the new 'do. Finally figured out how to style it more rock n' roll; until this day I was still on the fence about the cut which I'd had done back on Dec. 20th. Also, it was raining so hard I needed to wear my raincoat!
  4. Thursday, worn to work then out to dinner and over to a friend's. A brief reprise from the wet wet wet weather, so I jumped on the chance to sport my baggy flared jeans. One of the few dark-up-top outfits I've been really really fond of the last couple weeks.
  5. Friday, worn to work and then whatever's in store for date night. It's hard to see but this top is actually navy, not black. I had the same booties from #1 on initially, but as I was getting ready to leave my husband commented that flats would look better. As it is date night I gave it a try, and lo and behold actually ended up liking it better :)

Oh cute! Love outfit #2--the red knit hat totally does it for me. I also love you in the color green!

  • DeclawedJaguar replied 12 years ago

Aida, you look so beautiful in green. Very striking. Love the boots in 1.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 12 years ago

I have so missed your WIW posts Aide - I'm in awe of your style, truly! I love the colour combination in #3 (boy, do you look great in green!), the cool, effortless vibe in #4 with the pop of those red toes peeking out, and oh my gawsh, the combination of that coat and scarf in #5 is DIVINE! Does that coat have a type of bubble hem to it or is that just an optical illusion?

  • HelenInCanada replied 12 years ago

Ooh, I love your green coat and black/sparkly striped dolman top. Everything looks so harmonious and polished.

  • Diana replied 12 years ago

Aida, I love all of these looks! I think my favorite is #4, followed by #5. You have so many lovely, unique pieces and you put them together so well too. I do think the hair looks different, bouncier for sure.

Also, are those TEAL TIPS on your shoes in #1? SO FAB.

  • rae replied 12 years ago

In love with the red hat and green coat! I'm impressed that you trimmed so much hair off yet still have the look of long hair.

  • taylor replied 12 years ago

I love your posts Aida...each and every photo!!
You know I love your hair up and away, so I am glad it is still long enough for that :) You really can't tell 6 inches were taken off!!!

  • san replied 12 years ago

Very nice photos! You look so beautiful and I love your personal style, plus you are as sweet as can be to meet in person! I can't tell that you had 6" cut off your hair at all. You have beautiful hair!

  • RandomThoughts (Andrea) replied 12 years ago

Yay! Welcome back, Aida's WIWs! The shorter length looks great and that green raincoat is TDF!

  • jayne replied 12 years ago

Lots and lots of good inspiration for us who are color challenged! Gonna have to bookmark this one!

  • CocoLion replied 12 years ago

Bright green and bright blue are standout colors on you Aida (#2). Good to see you back in fine style, I missed your WIWs. My favorites are #2 (proportions and colors) and #5 (texture mixing).

    Hair is looking good!

  • Jjsloane replied 12 years ago

Nice to see your WIWs again. I always enjoy them and get inspiration. I love the entire looks in 4 and 5. The green raincoat is spectacular on you and the hair looks great.

  • Claudia replied 12 years ago

You look great, so many nice elements and great details to all the ensembles here.

How did those Jessica Simpson ballet flats with the color blocking work out? Are they comfortable and true to size?

  • Sona replied 12 years ago

gorgeous looks- each and every one. Have missed your WIW's. Yor hair layers look more polished- I did notice the haircut ( but then I had a little help from your post!!)

    :)

Great outfits, Aida! Your hair is noticably bouncier and shapely. It's a bummer that no one around you noticed. :( I thought at first that you have boots with teal toes too! Until I realized that you're wearing peep toes and teal socks.....right?

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Great to see you post again, Aida! I don't know what is going on with the people in your life. How could they fail to notice your much-bouncier hair framing your face so much more beautifully? Sigh...

Of course maybe they were distracted by your fab outfits. Can't blame them for that! Love that pop of red in #4 and the beautiful textures and subtle patterns in the last outfit! You always look so carefully to the details.

  • Isabel replied 12 years ago

I also LOVE the #3 !! ( I love them all, really, but I LOVE the third one ).

The green coat is a 10, the hair is a 10, that scarf is a 10, those lips are a 10....wait that makes your score like, a 70. Oh, I forgot to check out the shoes.....

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

Aida you have such a great outerwear collection. You look very put together in you coat and scarf combos. It makes me realize that I definitely don't pay enough attention to that. It's great to see you again.

  • Isis replied 12 years ago

Aida, all of these are so great; I can't pick one that I love above all!

OK, twist my arm. I especially love #4, it all comes together.

I also liked reading the details about these and your thought process on your blog!

  • Queen Mum replied 12 years ago

I've missed your posts Aida. All of these are great, but I adore that green jacket on you! That made me sit up and smile!

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

I don't know where to start. I feel like a kid in a candy store with so many wonderful things clamoring for my attention. So many pretty things...beautiful, bouncy hair, a vibrant green jacket that I'd kill for, that cute red beret, ooh! and that totally rockin'outfit with the black blazer and jeans...just love it all!

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

Your hair definitely looks more texturized and the effect is fabulous, Aida!

I love you in that red hat in #2. That's KILLER. The emerald jacket is wildly on trend and I love you in that too!

#4 is my favourite k-word worthy look here. Sassy :)

  • Makrame replied 12 years ago

These are fun and inspirational, as always, Aida! I have come back to study the photos after seeing them for the first time yesterday. The red hat on the white backdrop looks great, and I like your scarves and the varied ways you tie them. Not to mention the rest of the outfits - everything look great here.

  • replied 12 years ago

Aida, very nice outfits. I'm proud to be your hat twin. I have one in a the same colour and very similar shape. I wear ti every day and I hope you wear yours too often because it is super on you! Also, very nice gren coat. It has a very chic air.

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

Oh, I've missed your fab WIWs, Aida! You are looking dazzling as usual! I absolutely love you in bold colors (e.g., that green jacket!), and your layering skillz are rocking! I love the look with the red pumps peeking out of the bootcuts. Slouchy chic fabulosity. And your haircut is beautiful.

  • MsMary replied 12 years ago

I wouldn't have thought it possible, but I swear you've gotten even more beautiful while you weren't posting! LOVE all of these - I think the green jacket is my fave! So great to have you back! And your hair looks fantastic!

  • Debora replied 12 years ago

It's so great to see you posting again! Love all of your looks, but #3 and #4 especially appeal to me. The emerald green coat in #3 is just so beautiful on you. You new haircut looks fab!

  • Katiepea replied 12 years ago

You look fabulous in every photo! I can't believe I am sitting here, sweltering in over 30C heat and there you are, same time, rugged up in coats, hats and scarves. It feels kinda surreal!

I particularly love your little hat in photo #2, so much so that you make me miss winter.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Thank you all so much for the lovely and insightful comments!! Happy to hear the new haircut is noticeable, _I_ almost didn't believe 6" was cut off (see below for "before" the day I got it cut, hehe)! I should say that my husband noticed it was cut, but of course he knew it was coming ;)

Shannon, the coat in #5 has a pleated hem; it has pretty stitching holding it in place that I never cut off because I liked how it looked, so it kind of bubbles :)

Diana and Claire, yep peep toe booties with teal socks :D

San, thank you! I really enjoyed meeting you too. I hope we can chat more at the next meetup!

Claudia, the JS flats are TTS and the colors are more muted than I expected but very pretty (rust and muted plum). The whole shoe is fairly narrow, and I haven't decided if there's enough room in the toe box for me; I think I need a 7.75! Did you order them?

Sarah, my outerwear really improved when I decided to started taking photos along with my actual outfits. It's always interesting to me how much we can gleam from using both the mirror and photos!

Isis, so happy to hear you're enjoying reading about my process on my blog. One of these days I'll get caught up ><

Angie, thanks! #4 above there came out of my desire to try and capture some of the attitude of that chambray, black and red dotty scarf outfit I posted in my 2011 favorites. I definitely felt sassy in that! I think the blazer has a lot to do with it.

Anya, how fun! I can totally picture you in a slouchy red beret. I will definitely have to wear this one more after getting such a great response to it :)

Katiepea, I'll make you a deal: post some fun summery outfits for me and I'll post some fun wintery outfits for you :D

  • qfbrenda replied 12 years ago

    I love your style!

The outerwear issue is huge here in WA. I find so often I don't take my coat off. I could wear an old tacky t-shirt under my favorite coat and look great. LOL Just kidding. But really.... outerwear makes a huge difference in the total look, as your pictures show very well.

  • AJ replied 12 years ago

    1) Teal socks with peeptoes? Brilliant!
    2) Luv the chunky beret and those boots!
    3) Look how your new do has got you all sultry posing! Luv the color combos and your make-up looks beautiful!
    4) Are we H&M blazer twins?! This is a FAB outfit!
    5) Luv the big scarf with your long coat! Tell hubby he is on the elite list of YLF hubbies who are understanding that "it's all in the details."

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Thank you, Brenda and AJ!

Brenda, exactly! I just bought my first (!!) short wool peacoat yesterday and am so excited!

AJ, this is my vintage blazer I wore in LA :) It's a timeless cut! Hubby is a super minimalist, so he is all about the details.

  • Scarlet replied 12 years ago

Every day looks great, but I think 4 is very cool looking.
