casual before the rain

A few recent casual outfits worn for various errands, weekend stuff, very low-key work days, etc. before the rain really hit. It has now arrived in full force, so I guess that's my cue to move to boots for the next 5 months as we enter my dominant, but unfortunately not particularly favorite, kind of dressing: rainy fall/winter casual. Mainly because it's just sooooo long and limits the range of silhouettes I can wear. To help I put up a pretty bit of framed corkboard in my closet on which I plan to pin any casual outfits I really liked wearing for quick and easy future repeat reference :)

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome.

(PS I did also wear coats with most of these: wool charcoal plaid with #3,4 and cream trench with #5)

Low key, but ALWAYS stylish, sweet Aida

(The rain has been HECTIC. Glad to catch a break today. Sam too. Good grief).

I love the way you mix colour and wear it. There is SO much variety in your outfits - yet somehow cohesive and "Aida", no matter what. LOVE seeing the flats, and olive creeping into your style. Fave here is #4. Killer look and FABULOUS boots.

I remember being with you in the fitting room at the Loft Outlet for the gilet in #5. Happy Days. Much love to you. xo

oooooh, and pretty lace creeping through always makes me happy.

I really like the striped sweaters and the combat boots. Also love the pop of the clutch.

Oh, I've missed your fab style, Aida. It's so funny how some times I look at finds and I think "that looks like Aida" and then I look and it's your find! You look amazing in all of these--casual yet so polished! I can't pick a fave!

    Thanks ladies!

Angie, YES it's been crazy hasn't it! I pulled all my rainy weather shoes out yesterday and found that so many of them are simply too worn so now all of a sudden I have a BIG bunch of footwear holes ><  And a while back there I just woke up one day and felt very off my heels; really want to replace most pairs with a corresponding pair of flats. So I totally need that money tree! ;) Extra thanks re the color and variety with continuity. I think in the past I've primarily gotten variety from silhouette but these days I'm really feeling the color, print, and texture mixes above all. Still playing with proportions, of course. (I've got this furry sweater vest right up front in my closet because it's happy memories every time I look at it <3)

Delurked, thanks! Tough to go wrong with a stripey sweater, isn't it? I really like that both of these are variegated stripes.

Kelly, hah yes that happens to me too. Funny how that works sometimes ^^

I think the common thread ( ;) ) that runs through these outfits is the impeccable fit. You make everything look like a million bucks as they say. I have already expressed my admiration for the bright sweater, the change of proportions in #2 works so well for you, #3 is just so soothing and finished due to the color scheme, and #4 is disciplined fun and looks great. Glad you are posting!

You look like you’re having fun. I miss my olive pants now ;)

These are all great. I especially love the sweater vest in the last pic.

FAB as ever! So good to see you again. :-) I've missed your awesome style and always spot on comments and analysis.

    I'm with Angie--those boots! <3 <3 <3

You look amazing in all of them

Well if you have to wear boots for the next 5 months - those olive ones are a beautiful way to do it! All of these looks are gorgeous, but I do love #4 the best and hope that is going on the cork  board.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

HAHAHAHAH. Aida, you crack me up. Just like me. For no apparent reason - you wake up one day and you're done with something. No reason, no logic. I SOOOOOO GET IT. Time for flats, and your KILLER style will continue to blossom. Lets hope a money tree grows in your garden too - send me the seeds. (The position of your furry gilet makes my heart happy xo),

My fave is #3, but I also love the boots in #4 and the vest in #5. I think of you often when I’m trying to figure out how to make edgier or androgynous outfits looks more feminine, because you’re so darn good at it.

I love the pattern mixing in 1 and 3, but you look fab in all!

  • skylurker replied 6 years ago

Love the palette, colourful but quiet. Love khaki on you esp (#4).

  • Aquamarine replied 6 years ago

They are all great outfits on you, but 4 really knocks it out if the park for me.

  • MsMary replied 6 years ago

OMG your hair is divine!! And I love all the outfits, especially no. 4.

  • JAileen replied 6 years ago

I love #4. The repetition of olive, one of my favorite colors, is fab. Of course I love the sweater in #2, too.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Thanks very much ladies! Interesting to hear all the love for the olive outfit, I almost didn't post it because it's such a simple casual look; pretty standard weekend wear just sweater+jeans+boots+big hoops. Which makes me wonder if "#4" means the fourth outfit or photo number four ;)

The corkboard sounds like a great idea!

  • Sara L. replied 6 years ago

Huh, I thought had already commented on this thread...

I really like the vest with the furry collar.  It looks great with the green shirt.  I'm also liking the matchiness of the olive striped top and olive boots.  I have similar pants to the ones in #2 and now I'm wondering how a similar outfit would look.  I'm generally anti-tucking (for me).

  • Stagiaire Fash replied 6 years ago

    Furry collared vests ftw ;)
I really like those boots too.
I like all of these outfits, because they look easy.

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

    Thanks Lisa, Sara, and Fashiontern!

Sara, the tucked top with the olive joggers could easily be replaced with a cropped untucked top OR a shorter untucked top that flares away from the body a bit :)
