WIW 08.01 [triangles in the sand]

I had triangles in my head after Rabbit's threat yesterday on triangle print clothes, so this morning I pulled out one of my favorite triangle things, an apple-green triangle print tee. I love the cheerfulness of apple green but never feel quite right in it, so for the most part I have to enjoy it on others. However the huge amount of white in this top makes it possible for me wear :D It doesn't really show in the photos, but where the big white gap is in the center there are actually verrryyy faint blush and light blue triangles to continue the pattern.

A little less warm today so I opted to pair the top with white perforated flats and sand slouchy linen pants. I've been wearing these pants exclusively with the hems rolled BF style, but today I wasn't feeling the look so I left them unrolled. The longer leg line felt better with the boxy top, and no roll also makes for a slouchier more casual vibe with the hem break and especially with flats. Speaking of, the flats have little diamond shaped perforations which also plays into the triangle theme.

Hair up in the pomp-pony to play into the 80s vibe, long gold earrings for an extra bit of lengthening reinforcement, and matte candy pink lipstick to go with the yummy apple green. Chose my round sunnies to counter (or complete, depending on the math) the triangles, and my taupe clutch to add a little depth to the sandy color of the pants. I wouldn't say it's the most flattering look ever, but there's enough structure, color and texture interest, and overall lightness to make me happy.

WIW 07.31 [summer white and brown (and gray) ensemble]

Hope you're all interested in another summer white and brown ensemble ;) This is color combo (white+cognac) that I used to wear often in spring/summer, but I haven't been wearing much this season; I'd been planning to pull it back out for fall/winter, so this was a fun little test drive.

The combo with cognac as the brown and a little gray added in is a personal favorite, so I went that route: white with sheer stripes sweater (NAS), gray slouchy cotton long cargo shorts, cognac woven belt, and cognac heeled oxfords. I hadn't been wearing these shoes in spring/summer because they rub, but after discovering the magic of Body Glide I thought I'd give them another go. Unfortunately it's still not quite enough help so I'll probably go back to keeping these for fall/winter with hosiery, which is too bad because I much prefer how they look on bare legs. Accessorized on the glam side, with giant crystal earrings and a rich red-orange lipstick I usually reserve for fall/winter because it just works so well with the cognac (it's not nearly as neon as the photo shows though, had some color saturation issues today). Hair up to minimize the darkness, and stripy clutch to pick up a bit on my hair and also the sweater's sheer stripes.

I'm pleased with how non-earthy I was able to make this color combo, thanks for the inspiration as always Angie! Now I'm definitely feeling it for fall/winter.
