Little changes

I'm constantly amazed at how changing a little thing can make such a huge difference in the way an outfit looks, and therefore the way you feel in that outfit.

At my husband's suggestion, I tried eyeliner the way my sis does it: halfway on top, halfway on bottom; I had only tried lining the top only though the entire lid instead of half, and even then rarely wear it sticking to just mascara usually. While not quite there (I still want something a little heavier I think), this is so much closer to the edge I want my eyes to give me, and today I feel great!

(Will post photos later, but I'm wearing gray/black striped tee, brown leather jacket with studs, and black skinnies tucked into my new brown buckled boots. And big silver hoops!)

So I just wanted to say thanks, YLF, for helping me gain insight to what I want from my style, what's missing, and how to go about getting it.

Ask Angie: Bebe Button-Up Sash Top

I'm thinking of picking up the Bebe Button-Up Sash Top from the recent blog post; this will be my first blouse, I think, they're not usually my thing but I love the tonal stripes and long cuffs. I'd like some advice on size, and thoughts on whether to get black or white (leaning towards black). What measurements do you need to know to suggest a size for me? Their sizing chart doesn't seem to work with my brain, but so far I'm guessing I'll be a Medium.

WIW 01.05-07 (70s edition)

I tried a few 70s looks using stuff I already have over the last few days, with mixed success. I was trying for a more modern take, that still fit my style, and found I had a lot more trouble than I'd anticipated.

  1. Worn to work, then out for sushi with friends. Vintage 70s skirt :) This is another pair of my new boots and I really like them. I'd planned to wear my peacock pendant with this but forgot to grab it, boo. This was by far my favorite.
  2. Worn to run errands. Leftmost was the 70s look, but I just couldn't handle the denim+denim. Then couldn't handle the tuck because the jacket was cropped and it left weird hemlines, and wore the rightmost version. So I failed at wearing this look out :(
  3. What I tried to wear. These bad boys (handmade vintage pants from the 70s, they're in my "keep for the memories" pile) are actually high waisted but it was already too much. Waaaaay too wide legged and I chickened out; I should've just taken the photo with the high waist since I didn't wear it anyway.
  4. Worn to work, what #3 turned into (just swapped the pants out, kept the platform heels). I also rummaged through some photos of my parents from the 70s and found photos of BOTH of them wearing this exact top combination (with stripes!) so that made me feel a little better about chickening out of two looks. A little.

I will be trying this again because I don't feel terribly successful with this batch (except #1). Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!

WIW 01.01-04

New year, new camera (for xmas, but still)! I never got around to posting, like, all my December WIWs, but they'll be up on my Weardrobe site later this week (I could do a 'best of' if anyone's interested ;) ).

  1. Worn shopping with a friend to help her find some heels (and a new sweater for me which I'll wear next week). These lovely suede gloves were a gift from my husband.
  2. Worn to work, then out for tacos with friends. Showing off one of my new pairs of boots I bought myself for xmas (and a new scarf which was a gift from my folks)! I definitely need more math inspired shirts.
  3. Worn to work. Inspired by this look but I didn't feel like wearing my navy blazer so I swapped the colors on top. Another gifted pair of gloves, from my MIL. Also new boots (though I wore them a couple times, just hadn't posted a WIW with them yet).

Comments, critiques, thoughts and questions welcome!
